Welcome to the u-Shop Mzansi Marketplace (“the Platform”). By accessing, registering, or using this online application, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
u-Shop Mzansi is an online marketplace application designed to expose independent business owners, service providers, and vendors to modern technology at affordable rental rates, helping them grow, gain exposure, and thrive. It is an application built for the people, by the people, to support our South African community in need.
To foster community upliftment, 10% of all platform rental contributions will be donated directly to registered charitable organisations, ensuring transparent distribution to audited causes supporting South Africans in need.
u-Shop provides the digital infrastructure and technology marketplace only. u-Shop acts strictly as an intermediary platform (facilitator) and is not a principal party to any transaction, sale, contract, or hiring agreement entered into between Users, Vendors, Suppliers, NPOs, or Applicants.
u-Shop does not manufacture, stock, verify, or physically handle any products or services listed on the Platform.
Vendors and Suppliers are entirely responsible for setting their own prices, ensuring compliance with relevant consumer standards, and ensuring the accuracy of product or service listings. u-Shop accepts no liability for false pricing, misleading descriptions, or substandard quality.
Where a Vendor has not enabled courier delivery, delivery is arranged directly between the buyer and the Vendor, and any issue regarding shipping, tracking, delayed delivery or failure to deliver rests solely between those parties.
Where courier delivery is offered at checkout, u-Shop obtains a live rate from the courier and collects it with the order on the Vendor's behalf. The courier, not u-Shop, carries the goods. u-Shop does not underwrite delivery times, and a quoted delivery window is the courier's estimate rather than a guarantee.
Packaging is the Vendor's responsibility. Goods must be packaged to withstand the ordinary rigours of road transport, and a claim for damage to inadequately packaged goods will not succeed against the courier or u-Shop.
The courier will not accept a parcel exceeding 1m on any side or 50kg, or 20kg for a locker. Items exceeding these limits are not offered courier delivery and remain the Vendor's to arrange.
Vendors must have the parcel packed, labelled and available at the collection address within the booked collection window. Where a courier attends and no parcel is available for collection, any charge the courier levies for that attendance is for the Vendor's account and may be recovered by u-Shop against the Vendor.
u-Shop will not be held responsible, liable, or accountable for processing refunds, handling product exchanges, or settling disputes arising from poor service delivery. All such inquiries must be directed directly to the responsible Vendor or Service Supplier.
The service is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, and hereby disclaim all other warranties including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Vendors must provide accurate, lawful, and verified business registration details in accordance with South African corporate laws.
Vendors must ensure that all items listed are legal to sell within South Africa. Listing counterfeit products, illegal goods, or unauthorised services is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of the rental agreement without a refund.
Vendors agree to maintain fair, lawful, and ethical consumer practices in line with the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA). Vendors are legally required to manage their own returns and disputes policy transparently.
Access to the platform is provided on a rental/subscription basis. Fees are billed monthly and are non-refundable except as required by law. Current plan pricing is displayed at sign-up and may be updated with notice.

By purchasing a product or hiring a service on u-Shop Mzansi, the Consumer acknowledges that they are entering into a direct contract with the specific independent Vendor, not with u-Shop. u-Shop is not a party to this agreement.
In the event of an anomaly, defect, or poor service experience, the Consumer must seek recourse directly from the Vendor or Supplier using the contact channels provided on their store profile. u-Shop may assist in facilitating communication but bears no liability for outcomes.
NPOs seeking visibility or participating in community support initiatives via the platform must provide a valid NPO/NPC registration number issued by the Department of Social Development or CIPC. A Section 18A certificate is required where applicable.
The allocation of the 10% rental contribution to selected charities is managed at the sole discretion of u-Shop's community upliftment board, ensuring transparent distribution to audited causes supporting South Africans in need.
Parties providing underlying services to the platform (such as payment gateways or notification APIs) must guarantee compliance with the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) and provide safe, encrypted connections.
Technical suppliers must adhere to individual Service Level Agreements to ensure platform stability; however, u-Shop is not liable to users for unexpected third-party server downtimes or external API anomalies.
Any job vacancies, independent agent opportunities, or internal listings published on u-Shop are for informational purposes only. Applicants are responsible for verifying the legitimacy of external employers, and u-Shop is not responsible for the terms, conditions, or outcomes of external hiring processes.
In terms of Section 43 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, u-Shop provides clear access to its corporate identity, contact details, and a clear mechanism for consumers to review transactions before finalisation.
u-Shop values user privacy. All personal data collected through the online application will be securely processed, stored, and protected in strict accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Personal information will not be sold or shared with external parties without explicit consent. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
While u-Shop excludes itself from transaction liabilities, Vendors are reminded that the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) grants South African consumers specific rights regarding the return of defective goods and cooling-off periods, which the Vendors must uphold.
The service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by u-Shop Mzansi and are protected by South African and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of content you upload to the service. By uploading content, you grant us a licence to use, display, and distribute your content in connection with the service.
Crucial Clause
You hereby indemnify u-Shop Mzansi Marketplace, its directors, employees, and technological partners, and hold them entirely harmless against any claims, losses, damages, fines, legal costs, or anomalies arising from your use of the platform, your transactions with other users, or any breach of these Terms and Conditions.
We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the service immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, including but not limited to listing counterfeit or illegal goods.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the service will cease immediately. Rental fees already paid are non-refundable.
u-Shop reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time to reflect changing technological requirements or legal mandates. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
These terms are governed exclusively by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from use of the platform shall be subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.
